Fixtures resetting position in 3D Visualizer – need help

Post by EKO-LSS »

Hi,

I’m hoping this is just user error and I only need some guidance, because I’m currently struggling to lay out fixtures in the 3D Visualizer.

For some reason, whenever I manually enter X/Y/Z position values, the fixtures reset back to 0. I then have to reposition them again.

If I try dragging the fixtures instead, the issue gets even worse—positions jump or reset unpredictably.

The only way I can reliably move fixtures is by using the + / – controls, but that’s extremely slow. Even then, I still have to be careful because sometimes the fixture will randomly reset and I have to start over.

it looks like the X/Y/Z values are conflicting/crossing over between the move and rotate values, causing the fixture(s) to rotate out of view when i switch from the move tab to the rotate tab.

Also

The trusses are giving issues, when I create a segment, the group shows up in the group area top right, however the segment is not visible.

The four legged tower truss is visible when it is created. which is what I resorted to. Create a four legged tower, delete the legs and all other useless pieces, leaving only the segment that I want... then tediously moving the segment into position using the +/- ... then the whole process has to be repeated for additional segments.

also

Is it possible to have the 3D visualizer pull the fixture layout from the 2D group layout as a top view layout? (am not sure if others does that as well, but i do layout my fixtures in the 2D group window, to match the physical location on stage, then do the same in the 3D visualizer. It would be nice if the 3D pulled the 2D fixture layout to start with, we would only need to fine tune the layout in the 3D, cause currently it is very time consuming to position the fixtures in the 3D.

one other thing since am speaking on groups... When you select fixtures to be grouped, the number sequence automatically increases dictating the order of the fixtures, eg 1,2,3,4 etc..... I know it can be done in the generator but it would be nice to be able to map multiple fixtures to which ever sequence number that you want.

Here is an example of a top view layout of a show file that am currently working on, the very same show file that caused me to stop to write this post..

Current group selection

truss 1 __ 1 2 3 4 5
truss 2 __ 6 7 8 9 10
truss 3 __ 11 12 13 14 15

Group selection that I would like (update request)
truss 1 __ 1 2 3 4 5
truss 2 __ 1 2 3 4 5
truss 3 __ 1 2 3 4 5

Your assistance is greatly appreciated once again.

Hello,

We have to be able to reproduce the problem, in order to fix it.
Could you please provide a link to the zip of the lightshow, and tell us an easy way to reproduce the problem ?

Hi,

I noticed that another user had a similar experience with the trusses "Post by flipc » Thu Oct 03, 2024 4:10 pm" and your response was the same, and the thread went dead right after you said that you were unable to replicate what he experienced.

The issue isn't with my show file, since the issue happens with a fresh show file as well. i click on create truss, go through the steps, the group is created, but no truss is visible.

with regards to the fixtures in the 3D space, i select a fixture move it around, click on the Rotate tab button left to rotate the fixture into orientation. the fixture jumps off view. i am able to return it to view by using the -/+ until i get it back into frame, but when i click the rotate tab again, the same thing happens.

I must add that, thou it may not happen with every fixture that i try to rotate, it happens enough within a plotting to be annoying.
