Problem with "install.sh" on Linux Mint [fixed]

WHAT IS THE DISTRO OF LINUX (Mint, Fedora, Arch, etc) THAT THE CHAUVET DEVELOPERS USE TO RUN THE LINUX SOFTWARE PACKAGE?

Mint 22.1 will not authenticate when Install.sh is run. Yes, it does run but fails to authenticate the root password. The developers say it works and I believe them. I can use anybody's distro that works. I've used Mint for years but I'm not married to it.

THANKS!

Hello,

Our software is officially tested and supported on Debian-based environments, and we use Debian itself as our reference system.

Linux Mint 22.1 uses different authentication and privilege-elevation mechanisms, which prevents the “install.sh” script from running correctly.

We strongly recommend using Debian, or a distribution that behaves identically in terms of authentication and privilege management.

PERFECT!! This is what I suspected, hence the question. Thank you. I shall go reload the machine with straight Debian and get back to you.
Best,
C.

I have never appreciated Linux Mint as much as I do now. For the sake of The Lighting Controller I loaded straight Debian 13 into the machine and gave myself a two-day crash course in the Command Line. The good news: The Lighting Controller now works! The bad news is that almost every other app I needed on that machine had to be dragged through the Terminal. What a pain! If your authentication worked on Mint/Ubuntu, it would have been a cake walk. But now, I think, it's done. Since we had to punt to a Windows machine to get through this Sunday, I won't get testing access to the 512 interface until Monday. I'll keep you posted on that final (I hope) step.

FYI, "install.sh" is only there to copy the "60-thelightingcontroller.rules" file to /etc/udev/rules.d (and to create a system icon). This can easily be done manually, and creating the icon is not mandatory.

However, we will test it under Mint.

The file "install.sh" has been corrected to work OK on Linux Mint for the next release
