Live Mobile

Post by LightMaster »

Hi Support

When will Live Mobile for VII be released?

We send out rigs with a laptop side stage and use iPads to control the laptop. If WiFi fails or there's an issue with the iPad, the show keeps running as the laptop on stage is hard wired.

We will need this functionality.

Hello,

There is currently no application for remote control of the V_II software (like “Live Mobile” in V9).
Our V_II software also runs natively on Android & iOS. So we can manage the lightshow directly from these applications without a computer.
On the other hand, using our software with a tablet (Android / iOS), which is designed for mobility, doesn't support USB interfaces. A new “wireless” interface will therefore have to be used, which will be available soon.

WiFi is not reliable enough for mission critical applications. I will still need remote control. Can you please update the iOS remote control app to support VII?

I just want to add some more thoughts to this.

All of the major competitors to your software have mobile apps.

Even on our larger shows, we have a dedicated computer at FOH running the software. We will never run from just an iPad.

We would like to see all the functionality of Live Mobile v3 brought over as well as the ability to edit scenes (generators).

I would like to be able to "walk the room" or stage with an iPad and adjust positions, key points.. bounds. I also want a dedicated thick iOS app, not a browser controlled shell.

I can see the value on a small show for someone to be able to run lights from an iPad directly for a few part tress by itself but normal LD's will never do this.

Please re-consider updating Live Mobile for compatibility with VII.

Noted.

Since our new software runs natively on Android & iOS systems, in our opinion a remote app for it seems less urgent than other things, but this may change following the forumers requests.
You could effectively use right now a browser controlled shell.
Otherwise, we are sorry but only V9 has a remote app for now.

It might make sense to modify your Android/iOS app to have a remote feature that allows it to control a PC remotely rather than developing an entirely new application.

Perhaps a "Sync" feature.

Are you not concerned with adoption? For me to be fully able to adopt VII, I need remote control.

Having feature parity with V9 vs VII is only going to work against you if your goal is for user adoption and to get everyone over to the new platform.

In the meantime, perhaps you could install Apple Remote Desktop or a VNC client on your iPad and enable screen sharing on your Mac?

We do that currently, but adding a remote desktop protocol on top of the control already creates performance lag even on some of the best WIFI connections. That's our current work-around for adjusting key points while "walking the room." Not ideal, but it does work.
