Post by Mendosa »

Hi Guys,

Step-by-Step Guide: Linking Elgato Stream Deck to DMX Software via MIDI

Step 1:
Install the MIDI Plugin from the Elgato Store
Open the Stream Deck Software.
Go to the Store (top right corner of the software).
Search for the MIDI Plugin and install it.

Step 2:
Install Virtual Loopback MIDI Port Software
Download and install loopMIDI from this link: https://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/loopmidi.html.
Launch loopMIDI and create a new MIDI port:
Click the + button and name the port Streamdeck.

Step 3:
Configure the MIDI Plugin in the Stream Deck Software
Open the Stream Deck Software.
Locate the MIDI plugin in the right-hand column and add a button to your Stream Deck.
Set the MIDI settings for the button:
MIDI Out Port: Select the Streamdeck port you created.
MIDI In Port: Select the same Streamdeck port.
Configure the Note On/Off command on your stream deck
Assign a unique MIDI Note to each button you wish to link.

Step 4:
Configure MIDI Settings in the DMX Software
Open Sweethlight, ShowExpress, or QuickDMX.
Navigate to the settings menu:
Preferences -> MIDI In: Select the Streamdeck MIDI port.
MIDI Out: Set it to clone the MIDI In settings (Clone MIDI In Settings).

Step 5:
Link Stream Deck Buttons to DMX Software Buttons
Go to the Boards section in your DMX software.
Right-click on the desired button and choose Edit.
Set the MIDI trigger:
Triggers -> MIDI In -> Learn: Press the corresponding button on the Stream Deck.
MIDI Out -> Learn: Click the desired button in the software to link the outgoing action.

Test the button to ensure the action is correctly linked.
